Golf

Each year, Harbor Club wins additional awards as one of the top golf courses in the country. Now, as a result of our million-dollar renovation, Harbor Club is even better!
This jewel on Lake Oconee has been nationally recognized since its opening in 1991. Harbor Club has enhanced its classic design by renovating and widening the greens, leveling tee boxes. Plus, the 18th hole has been redesigned to make it one of the most spectacular finishing holes anywhere in the world.
Play Harbor Club and see for yourself how the best keeps getting better.
Harbor Club Ranked No. 8 in Golfweeks 2007 Best Courses in Georgia.
Two Premier Architects
Harbor Club's 18-hole championship course was designed by the team that Golf Digest has recognized as the premier golf course architects in the world, Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish. Nominated the "Best New Private Course" in the country when it opened in 1991, Harbor Club's course continues to merit national attention. In 1993, Golf Digest ranked the course one of the "15 Best in golf courses" and Golfweek named it one of its "Fifty Most Distinctive Development Courses." It was also named one of "'s Best Golf Courses for 1995" by Golfweek, an honor also awarded in 1993 and 1994. In 1996 Harbor Club hosted the PGA Tour Qualifying School and the Georgia State Open. And the accolades just keep coming! In 2002, Golfweek chose Harbor Club as one of the " ' Great Golf Course Communities", and Links Magazine designated us one of the "Top Golf Course Communities Around the World".
Thoroughly Integrated Design
The course was designed to be thoroughly integrated with the rolling terrain of the Lake Oconee property. Weiskopf and Morrish used the hilly contours of the existing topography to create a challenging course that respects the lake's natural beauty. The course encounters Lake Oconee six times, skirts four creeks and many interior lakes, and challenges golfers to all levels with its multiple tee design. Each hole has at least four tees and the course measures from 5,207 yards to 7,048 yards.
The tees and greens are A1 bent grass and the fairways and roughs are bermuda grass. Fairways are overseeded with rye during the winter months to produce a green course year-round.
An Exceptional Course
"There are five qualities that you look for in a good golf course," says Morrish. "Rolling terrain, elevation changes, streams, mature trees and proximity to a lake, especially a scenic one like this pretty lake. If a course has two or three of these features, it's considered a very good course. Harbor Club is exceptional because it offers all five of these key design elements and lends itself to beautiful design features."
