With April right around the corner, the renowned Masters golf tournament is fast approaching. Whether you’re one of the lucky ones that get to experience this epic event in person, or if you’re going to watch it on TV from the comfort of your home, it’s an inspiring tournament that puts all avid golfers in the mood to play — especially here at Harbor Club.

Our golf course is conveniently located halfway between Augusta and Atlanta, just a few miles off of Interstate 20. Augusta is swamped with people during Masters Week, as are the golf courses located there. Not only that, many of the courses take advantage of the situation and carry a premium price tag. Not so at Harbor Club. Here you can escape the majority of the crowds and enjoy beautiful Lake Oconee, Georgia’s second largest lake.

Every year our patrons tell us that our course is one of the best places to play during Masters Week. It’s no surprise, considering it was designed by the admirable duo, Tom Weiskopf and Jay Moorish. In fact, Weiskopf himself finished second at The Masters on four different occasions. Both he and Jay Moorish created a fun, yet challenging course design that offers players some of the best playing conditions on the lake. These include six holes set beautifully along the shore of Lake Oconee, a 7,048-yard layout that skirts four creeks, and an appealing pair of short, driveable risk-reward par fours.

In keeping with The Masters theme, our 17th hole is designed to emulate the infamous 12th hole at Augusta National. It has very similar bunker placements, water hazard, and bean-shaped green. In fact, it was recently highlighted in Golf Georgia magazine, saying that it “plays like a bigger, juiced up version of Augusta National’s par three 12th.” Yes, this one does require a fantastic tee shot over the lake.

Hole 17 isn’t the only thing that bears a resemblance to Augusta National. When you visit our Southern Living-inspired community, you might see a special, privately owned lake home that was designed by architect Calvin Cline. It’s widely known as the “Augusta National House” because it looks almost exactly like the clubhouse at its namesake.

Over the years, many people have made it a tradition to play our course during Masters Week. It’s no surprise considering the impressive accolades our course has accumulated, including:

  • Top 3 Places to Play in the State of Georgia (Golfweek)
  • #4 Best Course You Can Play in Georgia (Golf Magazine)
  • One of the Top Golf Course Communities Around the World (Links Magazine)
