The summer season is in full swing, and that means there are lots of fantastic events to take advantage of both in and around Harbor Club. Of course, we have our free summer concert series at The Boathouse, but there are several more fun things to take advantage of nearby.

Be sure to mark some of these happenings in your calendar, so you don’t miss out:

2018 Bliss Award “Best Community of the Year” Award Ceremony – Harbor Club

Kids End of Summer Program- Greene County Library

Where: 610 South Main Street Greensboro, GA, 30642

When: Friday, July 20, 2018, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Cost: Free

Grab the kids and bring all your DIY Instruments to celebrate the End of Summer Program Party with a parade, pizza, and more. More information.

25th Anniversary Celebration – Southern Cross Guest Ranch

Where: 1670 Bethany Church Rd, Madison, GA 30650

When: Saturday, July 21, 2018, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

The Southern Cross Guest Ranch has been in business for 25 years. In celebration of their 25 years in business, they are hosting a special event that includes live music, arena demonstrations, pony rides, hayrides, children’s activities, arts and crafts vendors, food, beverages, and snacks. Oconee Rhythm Section – Summer Concert Series at The Boathouse on Lake Oconee

Cost: Free

The Oconee Rhythm Section will perform a variety of oldies but goodies. Enjoy blues, soul, classic rock, swing, and dance music played live at The Boathouse. Don’t forget to bring chairs and blankets to sit on. More information.

Firefly Kids’ Night – Main Street Madison Georgia

Where: Madison Town Park – GA-83, Madison, GA 30650

When: Friday, July 27, 2018, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Cost: Kids pay $5 each, parents are free. Ticket includes all activities within the park.

Join Main Street Madison Friday night for the Family Frolic – it’s “kids’ night” at Firefly. Enjoy a night of fun with stilt walkers, music, bubbles, face painters, fun inflatables, creative kids crafts, and family entertainment–all in the park. Feed the kids before you come, and they’ll provide an icy treat. Main Street Vet and HSMC will be on hand with animals, so leashed pets are allowed on Friday–please be sure to clean up after your dog. The Firefly Frolic is a 12 and under event. More information.

Karianne Jean – Summer Concert Series at The Boathouse on Lake Oconee

This up-and-coming country music star is back by popular demand to perform at The Boathouse. You can count on Karianne’s fun-loving spirit and awesome talent for an energetic show that will have your toes tapping in no time. On the Grill: Sausage-Making for Tailgating Season – Farmview Market

Where: 2610 Eatonton Highway, Madison GA

When: Saturday, August 4, 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM

Cost: $25

Spend the afternoon with Farmview Butcher Glen Wellman and his team learning and using Farmview’s step-by-step process of making sausage blends, working with different types of casings and cooking methods with a focus on brats and other sausages well-suited for grilling— just in time for tailgating season. You will take home 2 lbs. of sausage after practicing the techniques of sausage making in an intimate setting. Please note that this class will be held in the butcher area, which is kept at a very cold temperature. Please plan to dress in layers, including hat and thick socks. $25 includes instruction, hands-on experience, and 2 lbs. of sausage to take home. Ages 18 and up. More information.

Fall Line Rambler – Summer Concert Series at The Boathouse on Lake Oconee

Fall Line Rambler is a collection of seasoned musicians from the mid-Georgia area who love to put on a good show. Their main influences are gathered from Southern rock, blues, and a bit of country. Sunday At The Museum Lecture Series – The Plaza Arts Center

When: Sunday, August 5, 2018, 2:00 PM

Speaker: Alex Gregory

Cost: The lecture is free, but donations are appreciated.

This topic for this interesting lecture is “From Eatonton’s Imperial Cotton Mill to YKK: A 40-year Career in Textiles.” Alex Gregory, an Eatonton native, will share highlights of his career from his teenage years in the local cotton mill to his long tenure as CEO of YKK Corporation. Shane Millwood – Summer Concert Series at The Boathouse on Lake Oconee

If you love country music, you won’t want to miss this performance by Shane Millwood. His style of music is influenced by George Jones, Merle Haggard, George Strait, and most importantly his honky-tonkin’ father, Tommy Millwood. More information.
