Fall Bucket List Ideas
As the summer draws to a close, we are welcoming fall with open arms. It’s time to start thinking warm thoughts, indulging in your favorite comfort foods, and seeing the leaves change around beautiful Lake Oconee. Autumn is one of the best seasons at Harbor Club, and not just because of our incredible fall golf.
So to kickstart your season, we’ve put together a list of fall bucket list ideas to get you excited for autumn.
Burn fall-scented candles
One of the best ways to get into the fall spirit is to light a fall-scented candle. Channel autumn with the sweet smell of pumpkin spice and cinnamon as it wafts through the house.
Roast marshmallows and make s’mores
This activity is easy to do at home, or head to the firepit at The Boathouse to make these tasty treats. Who knew something so delicious could come from graham crackers, chocolate bars, marshmallows, and a good roasting stick?
Go apple picking
Ellijay, Georgia, is the most popular place in our state to enjoy apple picking, but there are orchards closer to home. Even if you just buy locally-grown apples nearby, you’re helping to support Georgia farmers.
Visit a pumpkin patch
When you go, pick out some unique, odd-shaped pumpkins to decorate your front porch. While you’re there, grab a pie pumpkin or two for making yummy, homemade pies.
Explore a corn maze
Washington Farms is less than an hour north of Harbor Club and has a fantastic corn maze the whole family would enjoy. They have a great pumpkin patch too.
Go on a fall foliage drive
The Lake Oconee area is gorgeous when the trees begin to change, but if you want an earlier view of those lovely leaves, head to north Georgia. There you’ll see what the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains offer.
Play golf in cooler weather
Fall is an ideal time to play golf at Harbor Club. Our bentgrass greens are best in autumn, and the cooler weather makes for perfect playing conditions. Here are more reasons to play golf during the fall and the upcoming holiday season.
Carve jack-o-lanterns
With Halloween coming, everyone loves seeing the warm glow of jack-o-lanterns on porches in October. Don’t forget to roast your pumpkin seeds for a delicious snack.
Enjoy Lake Oconee in the off-season
Lake Oconee can be just as enjoyable in the fall and winter months as it can be during the spring and summer. Sure, it’s different, but in a good way. Here are the joys of lake living in the off-season.
Go on a nature hike
Lucky for us at Harbor Club, The Grove recreation campus has two well-maintained trail options. One is a mile-long, mulched hiking trail. The other is a Fit-Trail®, which includes eight fitness stations for stretching, bending, and strength training.
Drink warm apple cider and hot cocoa
Sipping warm apple cider or hot cocoa certainly gets you in the spirit of fall. For adults who wish to give their drinks a kick, a little whiskey or rum are good options. For hot cocoa, try a bit of Baileys or Kahlua.
Play and watch football games
Everyone knows that fall means football. No matter who you’re rooting for, we’re big fans of the sport in the South. So make a pot of yummy homemade chili to enjoy while watching the game. Or, if you plan on tailgating, here are eight ways to make it the best.
Decorate your home for fall
There are lots of ways to decorate your home for the autumn season. Here are some of our fall favorites — all of which tie in nicely with living the Harbor Club life.
Create your Halloween costume
Both kids and adults love coming up with creative costumes for Halloween. So avoid stress and have fun by strategizing your best costume ideas now.
